The album kicks off with the Warm Welcoming To Tha Dogg
Pound and Deathrow Intro. Letting you know like they
always do about this time. The track rolls into "Dogg
Pound Gangstaz". This is avergae track but Kurupt's
rhymes are a little iffy because some of them are good
and some of them are a little basic. Although Kurupt's
Bone Thugs diss and Snoop's vocals make up for that.
While the track cloese up with DJ Eazy Dick. "Respect"
is one of the several singles released on vinyl to promote
Dogg Food. The song has a good hypnotyzing slow beat
by Daz with some deep & dope lyrics from Tha Pound
and some hypnotyzing vocals as well. New York, New York
was another hit single for the album. This track put
Kurupt on the spot as the new hit MC. This track also
let eastcoast people know westcoast MCing is here. Kurupt
spits fire along with Snoop's catchy hooks. While you
could say "Smooth" is just a smooth track.
This song is very laid back if you & the boys are
smoking or something. It's a good song to kick back
to. Now for all you Malik (Hershey-Loc) fans yous should
like "Cyco-Lic-No". A Very gangsta track with
raw lyrics & a catchy chorus. While Mr. Malik spits
heat through most of the song. "Ridin', Slipin'
And Slidin'" is one of the more slower tracks of
the album. It's more layed back with Mz. South Snetral's
beautiful vocals. It's basically a track for riding.
The album then slows it down a notch into a interlude
lead by Big Pimpin' Delemond with "Big Pimpin'
2". Where he discusses his pimp tales & lessons.
Moving on, the third single from the album with Nate
Dogg & Michel'le which is "Let's Play House".
A track for the pimps, players & ballers. While
the original version featured Warren G, the song could
of been better if they added Snoop's vocals, made the
song longer and little more grimey, & kept Warren
G. Now for anyone who likes Daz more than Kurupt then
you'll dig "I Don't Like To Dream ABout Gettin'
Paid". Daz spits most of the rhymes on the track
with Nate Dogg's untouchable vocals on this track for
the ballers. A short Kurupt verse is squeezed into the
end while Daz gets the rest. "Do What I Feel"
is another one of those good lyrical tracks since it
includes Tha Lady of Rage on the mic. Rage spits straight
heat but Kurupt & Daz's rhymes could of been better.
I hear this track was rumored to be underground single
though. Then the Dogg Food album starts to enter a more
grimier genre of music. With "If We All Fuc"
is track for the hoes but got kind of a party vibe with
its pimped out lyrics to it but it's a weird track though.
It has Tha Dogg Pound & Snoop just sreaming the
'f' word over & over so it's disturbing and gets
old. Then going onto "Some Bomb Azz Pussy"
which is slowed down and puts you in a zone with the
dazed, weird & strange vocals & beat. Although
this track is no different it is better because they
don't scream the f-word over & over and they slow
it down a notch. "Doggz Day Afternoon" is
lyrically the best Dogg Food track. There's no chorus,
Kurupt spits heat, even Daz spits heat & there's
some cool vocalson this gangsta'd out beat. "Reality"
is a deep, slow & raw track wit Tha Eastsida "Tray-Deee".
In the track they mention how there's no escape from
from reality or life for that matter. The vocals are
really cool & take a scary rhythm. WHile Kurupt
compares his sanity to, if he was to lose it to the
late Nirvana's Kurt Cobane. Towards the end of the album,
Soopafly & Overdose handle production instead of
Daz, Pooh & Dre. While they do this they do a good
job. "One By One" is a pretty good track but
not Tha Pound's best. A good track to ride around &
smoke to though. Tha Pound does drop some good rhymes
but some of it don't flow right. Now "Sooo Much
Style" is a good track to end the album with. The
beat & lyrics are all laid back. While Daz speaks
on how him, Kurupt Snoop, Tha Pound, Tha Lady of Rage
& Deathrow got sooo much style. This is just a good
track to kick back to. Overall, this album is very dope.
It's almost like a compiliation. Introducing Kurupt
as a solo-artist, Daz's production, Mr. Malik, Tray-Deee,
Nate Dogg and such you know. This album packs gangsta'd
out songs, laid-back songs, riding songs & part
songs. It's just a dogg gone album.
